I have written for the national and specialist press for almost 20 years. You can see some of my work on this site.
I have written about most things but focus on the law and justice.
I run the JusticeGap (www.thejusticegap.com).
My books include The first miscarriage of justice: the unreported and amazing case of Tony Stock (Waterside Press, 2014), The Justice Gap: Whatever happened to legal aid? (Legal Action Group, 2009 – with Steve Hynes) and People Power: how to run a campaign and make a difference in your community (Daily Telegraph and LawPack, 2008).
I won the Bar Council’s legal reporter of the year 2015 (and previously in 2005). The Justice Gap won the Halsbury Legal Journalism award 2013.
I am a visiting lecturer in the journalism department at Winchester University, and head up Byfield’s Insight Reports – the research part of the legal communications specialists the Byfield Consultancy (www.byfieldconsultancy.com).
I am a visiting senior fellow in access to justice at the University of Lincoln, a patron of Hackney Community Law Centre and on the advisory committee for the new Centre for Criminal Appeals.
